CONCEPT NOTE:

Art pedagogy, across cultures, embodies not only the transmission of technical skills but also the nurturing of creativity, identity and cultural understanding. In the contemporary globalised world, the teaching and learning of art are increasingly shaped by cross-cultural exchanges, technological innovation and pedagogical reform. Traditional models of art education, rooted in cultural histories, local aesthetics and philosophical frameworks, now coexist and interact with new, transnational approaches that challenge, enrich and transform them.

This international seminar, “Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Art Pedagogy: Traditions, Transformations and Futures,” seeks to bring together scholars, artists and educators from around the world to engage in critical discussions on the evolving practices of art pedagogy. It will address how cultural exchange, intercultural dialogue, indigenous traditions and global educational policies influence art teaching. By situating art pedagogy at the intersection of tradition and transformation, the seminar aims to explore the future trajectories of art education in diverse contexts.

Through lectures, paper presentations, workshops and dialogues, the seminar will examine how cross-cultural perspectives foster inclusivity, innovation and holistic learning in art pedagogy.
